Difference between the Elite and the GT?

I wonder if it would be worth it to get an Elite, just to try out the machine? What changed between models?

The battery packs are the same other than the color. The Elite the control were in different location compared to the older Sovereigns and the GT where they were put back in the original location as with the Elite they kept getting bumped and changed. The GT has more features like the iron mask switch where you can turn it off or on which I find if I want the coins close to iron I leave mine on all the time. The GT also has a switch so you can use it silent search for those that dont like a threshold, but with it silent I feel you will miss some great finds. The GT also has a track and lock the ground balance for those that want to use it for prospecting which is only active when running all metal and not used in the disc mode. The GT is the most sensitive of the Sovereigns and goes the deepest I know it will ID with the meter deeper too than the Elite and feel for me the audio is much louder too.
I beginner to the Sovereigns I feel may not see much differnt, but those that know the Sovereigns will see the difference in them, so those undecided on a Sovereign can pick up a used XS, XS2 or a XS2a reasonable and if they dont like it can resell it, those that know the Sovereign I recommend the GT as it will do a little bit more.

iv found enough Gold this year with my old Elite ,i bought a new Excal ll and just ordered a new GT....iv had 3 other GT's and all were good. i can say i will NEVER sell this Elite.will just have to wait n see which one will be the backup! i truly believe the Sovereign's are the best detectors on the plannet! iv bought n tried almost every brand/model and always come back to the Sovereign.

My elite was deeper than the GT too, but the GT maybe slightly better around iron
