Differances in detecters

I have an explorer xs and my buddy has a MXT.There are times when I can hear a target that he cant hear, and sometimes he can hear a target that I cant.Is there a reason for this? Thanks.

What the target was, which detector couldn't see it, was there trash (type?) around. Settings are key and if one detector is run the best way for that site then it is quite likely it will out perform the other in certain situations. If all targets were only down 6 or so inches I think it has most to do with how its being used.

Both detecters are run minimun discrimation. Today my buddy got a solid hit on a silver dime at 8 inches with his mxt. I was running the explorer with the 8 inch coil. The last time this happened, I got a hit on a deep seated dime that he could not hear. Both were at different sites.I am not complaining because the machine finds alot of good targets. Both sites contained alot of iron.Ran the exp without discrimination and ferres sounds.

exp owner, ialso have the exp as well as the mxt. the exp will locate deeper targets from what I can tell. you have to experiment with the settings I would use iron mask at -10 ,fast recovery, var 8,sesitivity20 to start in manual position you have to detect alot slower with exp then the mxt i noticed to find the deep targets. keep threshold audible if possible . sounds like you had the sens set too high or in semi auto mode. I have alot of practice with both machines but exp takes more time to get proficient with listen for good tones and dont concentrate on the meter so much good luck! jim p

What are the differances between the White detectors verses the Excaliber detecters, quality and price.
Thank you,
