Well not exactly one-legged.I haven't posted in awhile due to some of the little problems we all face from time to time.It started out with problems with my computer and lots of hours at work that didn't leave me much time to get it fixed.
After a few days of this I finally got it going and then awoke one morning with a slight catch in the joint of my left hip.I ignored it as best I could but as the day went on it got worse and by the end of the day I was in real pain.
This was on a friday night and on saturday morning-after a night with no sleep-I could not walk at all.Every step would bring a searing sharp unbearable pain like nothing I have ever experienced. When my wife insisted that I go to the E.R.-I didn't argue much.
I had did nothing that could have caused an injury to it-I just woke up with it on friday morning-so it was no surprise when xrays showed no broken bones. They finally gave me some knock out pain pills and advised me to see my doctor on Monday.
By Sunday morning the side of my hip was badly swelled and it hurt with such a throbing pain that even the pain pills didn't help much.It was so sore that even to touch it was nearly unbearable.I suffered all day and finally that evening following the instructions and advise of a friend who had once had a similar problem,I layed flat on my good side and with my legs extended straight out-gritted my teeth and had my wife pull my bad leg forward and downward very quickly.
After a second of white-hot undescribable pain,I felt a popping in my hip,and the pain was instantly gone!
By Monday morning I was nearly good as new and could walk without much pain-just a little tightness. When I saw my doctor and told him what happened,he gave me a mild scolding for the treatment I gave myself then examined me
My left leg is nearly 2 inches shorter than my right. This is a result of a badly broken leg I had as a teenager.According to the doctor, over the years this has put extra pressure on my left hip and somehow it had became partialy dislocated. He advised me to have a special shoe made that would even out the length of my legs.By this morning I was completly fine with no pain at all-but I will get the shoe made and wear it.I never want to go thru this again if I can avoid it.Man,it is hell to get old
Anyway, you guys have wrote some great stories and I look forward to finish catching up on the posts.
