Did they fix the glare off the screen?

Wasn't aware that anything needed to be "fixed." My CTX's screen is just fine and I don't think anything has to be done to make mine any better. Have you held one yet or is your question based off of reading something that someone posted on here? -Marc

After I took off the plastic protection cover on the screen it helped a lot.. I replaced it with a non glare cell phone screen protector.. Have absolutely no problem seeing the screen.. even with the back light off..

I found it to be next to no issue. I did just install the iPad anti glare protective film made by that Z company and it works great.
Also used it to cover the buttons.

This is exactly what I did. Covered the buttons as well. No problems here but I didn't have any complaints with the screen to begin with, I just wanted to protect it and the buttons. -Marc

I always have the backlight on at least somewhat. I can't see my screen well without it. It's to be expected of an LCD though. Do you not keep the backlight on at least a couple ticks? -Marc

Hi Marc----I have it set on 4, seems to be about right for me.-----Randy said he backed his down to 1.--I haven't tried that yet, would save some "juice" I guess.---Think I'm going to put on one of those anti-glare screen protectors also.---I have it on the Etrac & it helps with glare.----Maybe an anti glare sheet & the backlight on (somewhat) on the CTX?----That sound good?----------Del

Since the screen is recessed a bit, did you cut separate pieces for the screen and the keypad?

Hi Del, I also use 4. For me 4 seems to be the optimum setting for all conditions. I think the battery drain at 4 is marginal. I think the LED backlight really doesn't draw much juice. At 4 I can hunt all day with ZERO worries of battery time and thats plenty for me. -Marc

Hey Evan, should have mine next week! Looking forward to some filming as probably you are. Did you notice if glare was a problem with filming the screen?
I ordered one of the Ipad2 screen protectors (the ones that the material is used to protect helicopter blades) and have a nice glare guard spare from my E-Trac. I was thinking of using the glare guard on the screen (duh) and the protector (which doesn't do much in the way of blocking glare) everywhere else.

Anyway, perhaps I'll try the protector alone first and see how it works and if it's not enough I can always put the anti-glare plastic over it, or just cut a piece of the protector off and have it so it's around the anti-glare piece - if that makes sense.

Due to my camera's battery getting fried while charging during a lighting storm, I haven't got to film anything.. I just used the cheap 5 count $6.00 iphone screen protectors... I tried to cover the key pad but it didn't stay on..

Yes I cut two pieces.....one to cover the screen and one to cover the button area. I didn't cover the darker area around the screen.

same here, but I couldn't get the protector to stay on the key pad..

I also have used the Z ipad type protectors. You can usually pick them off that large auction site for about $6. Not necessariy to ipads but looks for various brands they might fit. Bottom line you can get about 9 inch diagonal sheet for use on a few detectors. Then just cut to fit. I usually use a uttility blade. On my Etrac I used the factory protective film for a template. It seems to help in most lighting conditions but isn't perfect. I do think it helps improve the tactile feel of membrane buttons on detectors.

The screen shield I bought previously was for a Huawei S7 which is a 7 inch screen. They sell for under $4 with shipping in the US. I just cut a piece for my freshly delivered CTX. I have not had it out in the daylight yet.

Thanks for the suggestion about using the protective film as a template, as well as how the Z helps with a tactile feel for the buttons. I wish they had put more robust buttons on the CTX like the V3i has - those are the best button like controls I have come across. With gloves on the smaller E-Trac like buttons are a bit harder to operate and I have smaller hands. Are the buttons on the CTX the same as on the E-Trac?

Thx,
Albert
