This ad is on Craig's List Lost & Found this morning.......
I found a metal detector in Clearwater. To claim you must describe the make/model of the detector and specific location where/ when you lost it. I'm not seeking a reward I just want the rightful owner to get it back.

Jeez, I wonder if it was an underwater detector, washed up on the beach.....any missing persons reports?

Checked the paper.....No MDers MIA. It was a late night post, maybe left in parking lot, fell out of truck,....I've heard of guys forgetting their scoop, one was posted for some time last summer after leaving it at a beach shower. It's kind of ironic, we usually post " found while MDing...not MD found!

I lost my detector one sat. evening (AT PRO) at a sport field. I had been detecting and had gone to my car and to get my keys out of my pocket to unlock the car I leaned the detector against the right side of the car. I have a older Subaru wagon so I lifted the back and let the dog in and put my gloves and the tray that I keep all my digging stuff into the rear and shut the lid and walked around the left side and got in and drove off with the detector still leaning on the right side. Got home and went into the house and had supper then went out to the shop and built a fire to warm it up. Went out to the car to get all the stuff out and guess what. NO DETECTOR. jumped into the car and drove back to the field but no detector. It was only the 2nd time that I had used it so I was just sick. The following Monday a friend of mine said to call the police station and see if anyone had turned it in. Guess what! someone had turned it in and all I had to do was describe it and I got it back. After that I never lean it against the right side of the car but I stand it up on the left side if I have to so I will be sure to see it when I go around to get in.

Even though I tell myself to double check my equipment, I did that with a relic shovel. I stuck it into the ground next to the car, put all my stuff away, drove off.
Got home and realized what I had done. fortunately it is green and was well camouflaged, it was right where I left it sticking in the earth next to the road by the field I was hunting.
