Did My Wife Kill My Sov GT

SurfPro

New member
Greetings,

My wife was using our Sov GT and had it on in a hip mount configuration. She bent over to pick up her scoop and the coil cable where it attaches to the box got wedged and cracked the case. See pic attached.
If I were to send it to Minelab, do you think they could fix it?

Thanks,
SP

My suggestion would be to send them a picture and get a price for repair. If the price is CRAZY to fix it.... is use aqua seal on it.

Dew

Your Sovereign should be fine with a tweak.I think Dew is correct, send ML a photo and see what they think repairs could cost.Could be a simple fix with some sealer though the cosmetics would hurt your resale value.Good Luck Happy Hunting Ron

I tell you ole beachnut turned me on to aqua seal and it really make a hard seal as hard as the plastic.

Sent it in for repair today. I'll post when I get it back.

Thanks,
SP

Minelab has been doing Sovereign repairs as of late for free. They would probably send you the case if you asked them for one.

Sent it to Kellyco, the repair facility for Minelab. They replaced the housing (both sides), charged me $100.00. I'm back in business.
Been away from the forum's for a while. I see that the Sov's been discontinued. I can't imagine why, maybe they want to sell more Ex Cals or 3030's.
