Went back to the state park (where my ExpII coil died 2 weeks ago). I was surprised to have a park manager ask me for my permit. That's only the 2nd time in 2 years I've ever been asked for it (both at this park ). Had a nice talk with the guy, told him about the hobby and showed him the trash I picked up. (a little good PR for the hobby never hurts). I asked him if there are other MD'rs and he said around 2. I'd love to get a smaller coil and hit all the picnic areas (it's a pretty large park). I doubt very much anyone would trouble to go through them with all the trash...
Anyway, the new coil works very well. Seems I can run the sensitivity much higher than before and it's not as erratic. I think the other coil was just bad from the beginning.
Didn't have too much time to hunt, but I did manage to go over 3 mulch playgrounds lightly. I know someone hunted them since I was last there because I buried some coins in one area and they were gone. But they missed some others that were much deeper (probably cherry picking). So, I ended up with around 30 or so coins and a junk ring. It was really nice to get out on a cool morning. Now if it would only rain for a while. I really want to be able to hit the area around my church again (now that I have a better idea of what I'm doing with this machine )
