Stopped by Kellyco in Orlando yesterday to get an adapter to wear earbuds on my AT Pro. Asked if 18k would ID higher than 14k since 10k shows lower than 14k. He says higher quality metals will ID lower (high 40's). ???. Shouldn't 18k be somewhere in the low/mid 50's? I haven't found 18k yet, but would like to know what you guys are experiencing.
Thanks.

I've had 10 k and 14 k come in all over the place. I have a couple of 10K and 14 K's that all hit up at right around 70. I've hit 14K and 10k rings in the 40's as well. I think it depends on the size of the ring and what it was mixed with to get it down in the 10k and 14k range. I haven't found any 18 or 24k so I have no idea how it will hit, but if I'm hunting, everything in the 40 and above gets dug......until I get tired and start to cherry pick....sometimes......we've all done it, right??

Thanks for your input BigCatDaddy. Only two rings so far so I guess I
need more data before coming to any conclusions. If it dings, dig it.

Hey guys
Not the best video BUT look at the numbers!
All these pieces were either 14k or 18k...
All numbers REALLY close! Just did this vid yesterday...

It depends on the size of the ring, what it amalgamated with, it's shape and the positionin of the ring to the coil. On the plus side, any signal in the 40's, 50's, 60's etc which has little drift in VDI numbers needs to be investigated. Sure, you are going to dig a lot of junk, but if you ignore these signals, you wont dig the junk and some of the gold rings either.

Hello, yesterday I did a test burying gold ring 18k about 5 mm wide by my colleague about 8 inches deep and the machine showed 68 clear, high and fixed. It is a ring with enough body.
What if your interest ...

I make a game of trying to guess the target I'm going to dig based on audio and VDI number. One of the 18kt man's gold ring I got with the AT Pro, was showing close to a zinc penny signal. The thing was it was 8" deep. There is no way a zinc penny survives at that depth in my ground conditions. With gold jewelry, you just can't be 100% certain what you are going to find until you extract it from the ground. 18kt is .750 gold and alloyed with other metal(s). This why a "dig 'em all" attitude, a whole bunch of patience and perseverance is necessary when going for the gold. Gold covers a wide spectrum of VDI numbers, and is located anywhere within it. Take a look at the range on the control panel. Good luck and happy hunting.
