Hey Jerry
Yeah I guess your right about us owning a lot of different detectors, it's always been just another part of this hobby I enjoy doing ... trying them all and weeding out the one's that work best for me.
Since I moved from Pensacola where the ground was so neutral and back up into the iron ore belt in Alabama after 25 years, I've had to THIN the herd quite a bit.
I replaced my Troy X-5 with a Sovereign GT, it just works better up here. I compared them for 6 months and the GT beat the X-5 pretty bad so it had to go, didn't think that would ever happen. But of course when Troy releases his new one ... yep, I'll check it out.
Tried several T2's and they were just to noisy for me and got crucified for posting about it, but it is what it is.
I've tried several Tesoros up here too, the Tejon, Cibola, Vaquero and the Super Traq. Out of those the Super Traq does the the better job but the weight kinda sucks so I'm thinking about selling it too.
The Nautilus 2ba I have is on a Whites shaft set-up and I just don't have enough money in it for it to bother me sitting in the closet until I want to use it ... it seems to work good anywhere I take it so it ain't going anywhere. Same with the Explorer, it's just to good everywhere I take it to let it go. All of the X-Terra's are excellent, especially the 70, it's my number one favorite out of the entire bunch. I never imagined a Minelab product that would weigh in at under 3lbs. that offered so much. In my opinion it's about as close to being the perfect detector as anything I've ever tried. It reminds me of a middle weight boxer that consistently throws a heavy weight punch !
No ... it's not quite as deep as the Explorer or my Nautilus but that's an unfair comparison anyway, but, it doesn't miss it by much and with everything it offers including the lack of weight and bulk makes it my first pick
I'm going to get the 5X10 DD soon and give it a shot, everybody I've talked with seem very impressed with the overall performance.
I'm GUILTY of slacking off the detecting here lately bud, since I moved up here close to Lake Guntersville I've had the Bass fishing bug take a BIG bite out of me
Bought a little Bass Tracker boat and many $$$$ worth of fresh water rods and reels and have been going fishing several times a week. The scenery is good, the fishing is great and reckon I've just been a bum lately, you need to take some time and go wet a hook with me if you come this way
Cya & H.H.
