I will say this is a impressive detector and many many times better than their Treasure Ace detectors they had before. It has 3 tones, a belltone for the copper and clad and silver, a reg tone for the nickles and a low tone for iron. All the clad, copper and silver has the same segment on the meter so they read the same, the nickle has its own segmant. Did a little air test and the depth seems to be around 6-7 inches which is great for a entry level detector. I tried a nickle plus a few of the pulltabs and I got no signal on the pulltabs, but a great signal on the nickle. I then threw down some coins on my floor that is full of nails, to see what it will do.it rejected these with no problem and got a great signal on all the coins, but the nickle I lose some depth with the nails. This detector also has a depth meter which I found very accurate in my air test. It has 3 modes of operation, the coin, the coin and jewlery and all metal, in all metal you notice the 3 tones more than the other modes and the Coin mode you have a preset notch that is not ajustable so you get the nickles and not the pulltabs and the coin and jewlery you are disc out the nails and some alum foil. The all metal there is no disc, but you have the tone ID plus the visual.
Like I say for a entry level detector I would like to see any detector with these features and depth the Ace 150 has. I think even some of the detector that cost twice as much dont come close to working as good as the Ace 150.
My opinion is that Garrett has a winner here with the Ace 150 and be a great detector for a begginer, or even for a experienced to have as a back up. I have my order in for 2 more when I can get them (back ordered already)for 2 of my Grandsons for Christmas.
One thing though is they dont make a coil cover yet and the one I got come with the Christmas package with the duffel bag, the set of headphones and a book on where to detect that comes free with the Ace 150 right now. A good deal for a great little detector.
