Did another depth test this morning whith the Musketeer

since i was getting an 8" buried dime whith the coil lifted 3" off the ground i decided to put a dime at 10" deep in ground and i was very presise about it and it came thru loud and clear in all metal but in disq i maybe got a tick one way hit and miss but very clear in all metal that is contrary to what the manuel says the manuel says its deeper in disq I do not find that to be so

It is no suprise that the manual says that, I believe that in disc mode with most detectors, that mode the signals are amplified. So is the ground noise, and in disc mode the ground noise will be interpreted as a signal whearas all metal mode, ground noise will still sound like ground noise. All metal mode will go deeper in noisier areas as it will seperate ground noise from signal.

Hey Gunnar,
This has been discussed here about the Sov many times, it must be something like Bence says. The ground has to be the answer as to why, only reason I can see. Some other location it might be the opposite with your musky.
Do a search on it about the Sov in all metal and you will see what I mean.

Gunnar it say's only recommended to search in discriminate mode to achieve the best depth,i think the manual is really saying for the search of non-ferrous metals because this is what most people search for and in all metal the detector will be picking up so much metal that your depth and targets of non-ferrous metals would be harder to locate due to picking up all metals, ferrous and non-ferrous.
