Charles, that is a beautiful ring. It would look great on the finger of a red headed lady. Thanks for posting. GH, Don

WHAT DEPTH OF SAND, WET OR DRY OR WATER, WHAT TYPE OF MACHINE AND WHAT SETTINGS??????
WERE THERE ANY PECULIARITIES TO THE SAND, LOW SPOT, GRAVEL OR WAS THE SAND BUILT UP OR PULLED OUT FROM THE BEACH.
By expanding the above you have an opportunity of teaching us just mortals.:)

Very, Very Nice.............................That Jersey Shore is still Hot...........Charles what detector was in your hands when you come upon that fine piece of treasure?...................thanks for sharing..............joe

That is one special ring Charles..... but like
some of the others have mentioned, it would be really
useful information for us "mortals" to know a bit more
about how deep, wet or dry sand.....etc. Thanks for
sharing with us and congrats. Gold Nuggets :wiggle:

Depth about 6 inches, wet sand but close to the high tide line, Minelab Explorer sens 26, gain 7. Gold could be anywhere between the high and low tide line but generally I look for firm sand e.g. the light fluffy sand stripped off by the storm. Yesterday at this spot that was the upper beach near the high tide line. Mid beach to near the waters edge was sanded in. There were no shells or dips. This find was really the result of finding a patch of targets and gridding it. I hunt different than a lot of beach hunters because I learned detecting digging in the dirt for old coins. I'm really slow compared to the beach detecting croud. They move fast and cover lots of beach. When I find a patch of targets I drop into digging in the dirt mode and grid slow with my coil low and flat to the sand.

You can't help but wonder when someone finds a ring like that; What in the name of ---- are people thinking
about when they go to play wearing something like that??? DUMB DUMB DUMB and DUMB!!!!!!!!!!
Glad you found it now make sure if it stay's found!

Hey nice ring....I hunt the beachs of So. Jersey also and i agree with your hunting tactics i like to move in a S pattern til i find a patch then work it pretty good..........It payed of the other day with a ring 14k......HH

Thank you, as a land type guy myself you have given me some good advice, look for light fluffy stuff stripped off from the storm. Great reply and gives me something to look for.

You know what will get you to slow down and grid properly...drag your scoop right over a platinum ring and miss it then have your hunting buddy walk up behind you and dig it! :yikes: I learned my lesson.
