diamond ring

Found a ladies diamond ring the other day. hit in the bottom of the screen just under nickels and to the left. normally would have thought it was a pulltab but knew someone lost the ring in the area years ago. it was 3-4 inches deep with about 1/2 to 3/4 tw carat diamond in white gold. I guess we need to know what we are trying to find so we know what to dig and what to pass up.

but Yahoo groups will not alow outside viewing,or something like that. But I am sure you hit message preview and you saw the picture.
Cool find though, all of my thin gold rings read low left like yours did.(But I only find foil that reads like that, not pull tabs)Bigger chunkier gold rings read above nickels, about where pulltabs hit for me.Point is,if you are ring hunting, dig 'em all! <IMG SRC="/forums/images/biggrin.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":D">

I have been finding lots of silver rings but no gold. Where are they hitting? Is the box bottom line at the bottom of screen or is the mid line of the cross at the bottom of the screen? Curious, cause I have been digging everything, but only come up with foil if it is cross line at bottom and pull tab if box bottom at the bottom of screen. I have no gold rings to experiment with. Nickels seem to hit a little bit higher and other pull tabs seem to be a little bit higher than nickels.

I have only found 4 Gold rings this year. But,I mostly hunt for old silver coins,at parks,I usually ignore most ring type signals. But the rings I found, the 3 thin gold rings hit where the red box is on the screen(approx. location)And the larger gold ring I found hit where the blue box is(again, approx.location)But,I do believe different sizes of gold rings hit all over the screen. If the rings are what you are after, dig everything. You might want to go onto the main FBS forum or the Beach/Water and and ask there,Beachcomber,Houndawg or Fred (UK) could answer this question better than me,they find TONS of gold rings.Don't see them post much here, but they do on FBS forum.

Wow! That was fast. Thanks Ric. I just learned something new. I saw your other pic on the silver and would have never known that. I always use coin pattern and get things hitting at edge of black and clear and just ignore them, sounds like I need to widen my screen some. Thanks again! Appreciate your time.......P.S. I love it when someone like above gets you experienced minelaber's going, cause it bring's out more detailed tips, and I will most likly benifit from them.I noticed that my buddy can hunt faster and finds more clad faster but I have to go alot slower and find less clad but the silver is worth it.

doug nailed it pretty good. The ring I found actually showed up about a box size to the right but the depth is right on. They take in a lot of area across the bottom of the screen. app. half the distance out of the middle.

I tend to come to my own conclusions too fast and get irrate.I just hate liers and have seen alot of them over this last year and few months. So I don't use my head much and just jump on and ask questions later.I really do want to help out as much as I can.But I also want to stress,my answers are just my opinion, there are many on here I feel are much better detectorists than me,I just throw out my two corroded zincs to go along with their answers.
Medice11 is right if he was talking about my screen, the red box was probably a hair to the right of where I have it on the screen, but you get the idea.
