Diamond Ring?

:super:Went hunting on the local beach today and guess what? Two rings above the highwater mark, YES! 1 ring is obviously goldplated with some sort of funky inlay, the other is 925 silver with about a 2 carat clear stone which may be a diamond. I know, who would put a 2 carat diamond in a silver ring, but then again who would attach a gold resizer to a silver ring which is the case for this one. The stone cuts glass so it is hard enough and brilliant enough. Do cubic zirconiums cut glass? Appreciate any input from the more experienced guys and gals out there.
PS I really like treasure hunting in Bermuda so far.

Take it to a local jeweler, he will tell you if it's real or not.

But I would not count out the fact that it is a diamond just because it's set in silver.....Some people like silver more than gold and that alone could be the case..

Good Luck and I hope it is real...

PS: I found a large mens ring with 8 nice sized diamonds in it,2 years ago.

My first thoughts where, there not diamonds at all, who would wear such a large and beautiful ring in the water. I had my sister take it to her work, she works for a very high end jeweler. She gave it back to me 3 days later in a spanking new ring case, I opened it and it looked shiny and new....She had it cleaned and then handed me the real suprise, a full apraisal, sealed and delivered..

Apraisal was for $4,600

NICE

Tigerned: Thanks so much for your input and I was encouraged by your story about your own diamond ring find. Who knows, eh? I will check it out asap.
Thanks again.:)
PS The beaches seem to be largely unhunted as I have seen no other treasurehunters in the year I have been here and have been unable to find a club.

Maybe you haven't seen many hunters, but believe me, their out there.

Plus, try to hunt the low tides more often than the high, hunt the wet sand area and into the surf itself..

Always hit the beach after a good storm with winds that sustain in the 20 plus mph wind range.....

You will have successfull days and not so successfull ones..

Sooner or later the odds will pay off, you will find real gems for sure..

Nothing would suprise me but the whole "it cuts glass" thing is wrong, since glass will cut glass just about anthing will. It's a great find and I sure would have it looked at.:super:

My thanks to tigerned, keith and the ghost team for all of their helpful advice. Will try to get the ring appraised tomorrow by a jeweller. My magnifying glass is not powerful enough to detect flaws and of course cz will cut glass as they are harder than the SiO2 composition of glass. I guess I was a little too excited when I made that post as most of my finds back in Canada were coins not rings.
What a great bunch of people on this site, so glad I joined.
Cheers from Bermuda:beers:

Yes, it's stamped 925 so it's silver. It is an older design and has one of those gold, clip on resizers that a jeweller puts on for a woman when her fingers shrink. So I would say it's an older ring.

Yes CZ's will cut glass. Old silver sometimes had diamonds in them but from your picture this doesn't look like a diamond, there is no fire... Its more likely a CZ or white sapphire.
