Diamond Head Scoops

Daddy Rabbit

New member
Would like to get some feed back on the diamond head scoop. I have been thinking about getting one, but I like to see what I am buying and hold it. And nobody I know has one. So I am asking those of you that may have one, What do you like and dislike about them?

where are you going to hunt?? wet sand? or rocks??

The point is good for digging, but if you are not good at pinpointing it also can do a job on the item retrieved. I have an earlier model and it was heavy. I understand now they use a fiberglass handle .

What's your location? If your close to me, you can try mine. I have come to look at scoops like tools in a box. I keep an aluminum for wet an dry sanding, a SS diamond head for the water and I have a large bucket, long handled SS scoop for deep water targets. I think if I had to choose just one scoop I'd buy a large diameter aluminum scoop with a SS lip and I'd opt for a grab handle to help the aching wrist and back. But then that's just my humble opinion on scoops. I use a nuttal a lot in the water a it's a great scoop. The bucket is a little smaller so you have to be on top of your game for pinpointing or you can end up making several attempts

I'm 67 and the Diamond Head is fine for me. It's heavy! But I don't carry it. I drag it. Sometimes the weight is an advantage as the scoop will hold still a little better if you are working with wave action. I also bought one of Stavr's shaped like the Diamons Head but is half the weight with almost the same dimensions. Living where I do, Washington State, and doing lakes the bottom is rarely penetrable with a plain aluminum scoop. It's a great day when I can dig like the folks do in Florida in all that nice sand, but don't see those conditions very much here. The odds of you being anywhere near me are remote but if you are and want to play with my Diamond Head give me a shout. jim
