Diablo Sand Scoop

I talked to Greg Diablo just last night. He is very happy with the testers results, and has a couple more to send out. I'm Guessing next spring. Pic's of test models returned for inspection, One of CJ's alum test models..I just got a Titanium Model, and my favorite still..is the Aluminum..once you have used it...there is no returning...

I would say If you need a scoop now or this winter Go with RTG's, they have some excellent scoops..I have 3 of them....

Correct, that is the Beauty of the Beast.

Welding seems like the logical way to do things as all have in the past. And I have to honest when I first seen the second generation Diablo I was a little leary of a non-welded scoop. But after using it for about 30 days this summer..I'm amazed, And I would say that has been the delay on the scoop just to make sure it can take a pounding, One of the testers CJ is out there several days a week....in the rocks of Connecticut, Nothing but praise.... So Beach time is been put in to assure Durability...

Talked to the builder/designer and he said........ We are close to the final design and hope to have something available by summer. This is a unique concept and it requires a lot of testing since the only previous references were welded scoops. I will not offer an inferior product that people will be unhappy with. There is steady progress on the project but it takes time to do it right. SO hopefully something this coming summer if greg feels 100%..

I will Pm those who have asked when finished. But If you need a scoop now Go with RTG's, they have some excellent scoops..I have had 3 for many years and though heavy, they are some of the best. Obn

I've got 2 RTG scoops myself, they are rugged. I used my aluminum scoop at a hard clay with seashell beach and so did my hunting buddy with another scoop, not an RTG, by the end of the day, his scoop was all bent up and mine looked like it did before we started. He is now getting an RTG. We did find 4 rings and lots of coins, next time we hit this beach I will take my stainless RTG so the digging will be much easier. HH

I know this is an older topic but are they up for sale yet?

Waited long enough for the Diablo. You'd think they were building a spaceship. Bought a T-Rex scoop from one of Find's sponsers (Gold Diggers) and couldn't be happier.

Robocop, kewl scoop for sure. Reminds me of the old miller scoop. I like the way you can dig strait down, then pull back on the grips...Nice design, what are the measurements? And weight....

On Diablo, Wish it would have made it out by now...One Great scoop. I've got two, aluminum, and titanium would not trade them for any scoop.

Digging vertically was the primary goal.
I use a Detector Pro HeadHunter Pulse with a 11 inch coil and it goes deep.
I wanted a scoop that would dig vertically and could be used one-handed. That's why I have a couple of assist handles to allow one hand operation.
It's all marine grade aluminum with the handle welded thru the bucket for maximum strength. I added a stainless steel lip with about a 1/2 inch overlap and it's about 28 gauge SS to avoid bending.
The bucket is 14 1/2 inches deep to the tip, the bucket is 6 inches wide by 6 1/2 inches high. The shape is like a railroad freight car. Welded inside and out.
The whole scoop and handle is just about 5 pounds and it balances on my shoulder with that yellow rope easily for carrying.
On the Florida east coast beaches with that renourished sand it is difficult to dig especially one handed with other scoops.
With my scoop I can stand with both feet on the back of the bucket balance with one hand on the hoop and jump on that bucket and leverage it down.
Twisting it out of the ground and one hand carry to the surf to drain it is all part of the design concept.
My pin pointing skills are good enough so the 6 inch width of the bucket is sufficient. When that bucket is full of wet sand and shell it's about 20 pounds.
That's enough for a one handed carry. My goal was to not have to bend over and break my back.
