DI2 in trash?

wayne_etc

Member
I know that DI2 isn't really meant for trashy areas, but I was wondering if anyone has used it with any success in this kind of environment. When I initially got my Fors, I thought the DI2 mode might be comparable to Etrac's TTF mode.

So has anyone had luck with Di2 in trashy areas?

Wayne I used it in at several semi clean house sites which was probably very trashy to most people compared to what I hunt usually. It works superbly for picking out non-ferrous. However if you are looking for certain items, like I mostly coin hunt you have to watch the TID on any non-ferrous hit constantly. Where as in 3 tone you get alerted to what is in the upper conductivity range, easier to discern. It lets you know to investigate in a quicker way. Cut's down on your digging too imo using 3 tone, it did for me. I'd consider 2 tone for me anyway a clean it out non-ferrous mode. Or better yet almost a discriminating all metal mode somewhat. Either way from the video you posted of your last adventure you would probably do very well in 2 tone. Now back to the video, just for fun run the disc up some and see if that cuts out some of the iron you'll dig where you were at in the video. Looks big iron infested. I'll holler at ya later.....

Thanks J.
Yes I had that site in mind as I dig everything that isn't iron. So maybe Di2 would be appropriate at a site where you are looking for anything nonferrous.

I don,t have a CoRe, have been reading a lot about it ,as thinking of getting one. Have read that in DI2 is a little deeper than DI3. Don,t know for sure, but have read it.I know that they said it don,t ID as good in DI2 as in Di3. Good luck, if it dose go deeper let us know. flintstone

I didn't do any depth test with CoRE before I sold it, still have a Racer. But food for though using DI2 in high trash. You may me able to run the ID mask setting high and get rid of a lot of garbage.
A person could do their own testing to see how the depth is affected. I mean if with high ID mask setting in DI2, the CoRe's is deeper than DI3 with standard ID mask setting, it would have some advantages.
