I am thinking of getting a DFX.The one I had my x made me sell it. Now that she is gone I think I want one,or should I try something else.I will never sell my MXT,I have all the coils 9.5,3x5,6x9,5',12.5,and bigfoot.Shoud I get one or not?I have the depro wader and would like something good so a friend can go with. Not saying the depro is not good its no id and takes time too learn the tonesWhat do you think DFX or MXT?I know I will get beat up for this, a Minelab II.

Tom,
Being you have all the differnt coils the DFX or the MXT would be nice. Around here the DFX hasnt been able to find anything the MXT cant find and the MXT is so easy to use compared to the DFX. The DFX is good for a person that likes to spend the time to tweak it for the best performance as you can do more with it. Being you can do more I feel you have to know what each of these ajustments will do in order to get the max out of it, but if you dont have it adjusted correctly you will lose performance too.
Now the Explorer XS II is one great detector as you see by looking at the Explorer fourm and all the great coins being found. The learning curve is much more than the MXT and some never do understand it, but those that do understand it do great with it.
I posted on the Explorer fourm earier this week about a accual hunt that had differnt detector in it and the find were accual finds. We had a Fisher CZ5, a Coinstike, a MXT and a DFX ,a Shadow X5 and a Minelab Sovereign and 3 Explorers hunting. Almost all of the good find where found with the Explorers and the Sovereign that were deep.
These people that use the Minelab knows them well and spent the time learning them. For ease of operation, or if would have been a newer park with newer coins the MXT I am sure would have did the best. I have the MXT for my wife and the XS II for me plus the X5 and feel the MXT is easy to use and one that is a lot of fun to use.

Get the DFX, all of your MXT accessory coils will work with it and save the cost of replacing them. I have an MXT with accessory coils and did the wrong thing and bought an XLT. The XLT broke and when I sent it back for replacement I just upgraded to the DFX. Now the coils I already have will work on it. I go out today at lunch for the first time with it

The MXT is a lightning quick two filter design with aggressive ground tracking that can handle the worst mineral load noise.
It can be swept ultra slow without tuning out the target (an advantage in trashier areas that require challenging target separation).
It was designed to meet the expectations of Relic Hunters and Gold Nugget Prospectors.
The DFX is a smoother detector and not as reactive as the MXT, and cancels out wet salts without having to lower the sensitivity. The DFX's Signagraph wins over the MXT's because of the shaping technology.
The MXT will give a better signal on micro jewelry.
Before the MXT, I enjoyed my Quantum XT as my number 1 detector. This mindset has been replaced by the MXT so I would say go fot it. Kind of like owning a Lexus Luxury LS 430 and a Yamaha FZ-1. Both will get you to from Point A to B but with a different feel & look.
