DFX worth?

I been thinking about condensing all these detectors I have. Would like to sell my DFX but I really
don't have ant idea what to ask for it. Its about 10 years old and has been used but not abused.
Can anyone suggest where to start??

Go to ebay, put in Whites DFX Metal Detector, Click search, click advanced top right side, your search string will still be there, now click the box that says sold and click search again.
This will give you all resent sold items. You will need to look at what is being sold with the DFX to get an idea of the price.. Someplace between $450 and $550 for basic MD, single coil and battery.
It looks like the DFX 300 (newer) get a bit more than than the older model even though they are identical. I just bought one a couple months ago.. the one that sold for $560 with 3 coils and lots of other stuff.. all the coils were bad .. whites helped me out with replacement and repair but still cost me an additional $250.. I figure my once great deal is a fair price..

Also remember you have to pay a fee, 13% by the time it is all said and done, on items sold on eBay. That is why it usually works out better to sell on the forum. You can ask less, because you don't have to recoup fees, and it will sell quicker.

In good used condition with a battery pak that holds a charge, 400-425 seems like the going price. I have one of the original DFX's and I would have a hard time parting with it. The sentimental value is worth more than the actual current going price. I once read that the DFX was Whites all time best seller and I would not disagree with that.

I just sold my DFX for $500 but it had a DX-1 probe on it so I would say I got about $400 for it. I think that is pretty close to the going price. I have seen them go as low as $350-$375 but condition greatly affects the price. Good luck with your sale and I also would recommend that you sell it on the forum to avoid Ebay's crazy fees.

I would have used this forum but I got banned from using it several years ago for making a comment that apparently didn't set well with the almighty one. Thank you for the info. Looks like the trade I'm about to make is right in the ball park. I used craigslist no fees but you really need to be careful who you're dealing with..!!
