DFX vs Vision ?

Leny

New member
Has anyone tested the DFX with Vision, and can post the results?

John,
Ask Larry or any other field tester..

They field test it before release.:detecting:

It could be done, but It would not really have any benefit. The DFX still has it's use, but since I now have a Vision, I too have retired my DFX, just like I retired my Eagle when I got a DFX and so on. The list is long since I started with a Radio Shack detector 25 years ago.

During my field testing of the Vision a comparison to the DFX was made as this was the machine my hunting partner used. We compared signals to see what the response was to each of the machines and the Vision was doing a better job on ID'ing the target and being able to id and reject iron. Needless to say my hunting partner will now use a Vision over the DFX any day of the week. This is not saying the DFX isn't a good machine as it has it place and is still a good machine. It is just that the Vision seemed to lock onto targets and ID them better than the DFX.

Field testers test the prototypes and often production models months before they ever come out or the public even knows about them.

Did a comparison yesterday with an MXT and a DFX and only had a couple hours to spend. It will take some getting used to so I can't really make a valuable comment on performance. I noticed two things that seemed different however. Pinpointing was substantially different in that a 90% cross sweep was not working well and found that more of a 45% cross sweep worked best. The other thing I noticed was some of the factory presets were off and made it a little slow responding in comparison. (Tweaked those and it behaved nicely.) The big thing that I appreciated was the interface is the best thing since sliced bread! It is so nice to just adjust tweaks from the main screen and is so easy to navigate. The clarity of the headphones was crisp and instantaneous. The various graphs are heavy into WOW and easy to see and understand with adjustments to compensate for the "visually challenged" in both color choices and size of characters. Balance was typical Whites quality but the machine seemed to be a touch heavier than my DFX. Accuracy of target ID was dead on and so deep in options. Going to get out tomorrow and truly begin to understand this new machine. Excited! Still enjoyed using the MXT particularly as it is fairly new to me and so simple. Good stuff all. What a great hobby we have huh? I'll post back tomorrow.

Leny, as a field tester of the Vision and long time DFX user, my DFX also is now 'out of reach' in my car. DFX has long been a top of the line machine, and will remain a very viable detector for many years to come. The Vision is absolutely on the leading edge of technology, and is an all around top performer. I have been lucky enough to find many items with the Vision that the DFX didn't see in areas I've worked many times. Depth is excellent as is target ID and trash seperation.

Have a great day.
