DFX Purchase

Ladies or Gentlemen:
I am interested in getting started in the hobby. The DFX is my choice. I have been monitoring used equipment on e-bay and am wondering if there are other sources out there that offer low hour machines?
Thanks.

I would suggest going down the list of forums and toward the bottom is the Metal Detecting Equipment Forum. You can post a wanted to buy ad, and you will probably get several answers.

Thank you. I just jointed the forum yesterday and have not had the chance to fully explore all of the different sections. I didn't know the equipment forum was there. Appreciate the response and direction.

Welcome to the forum. My original question has some merit. Let's just say all your going to hunt is tot lots. This could be done with a simpler and less expensive machine. No need to use a sledge hammer to hang a picture. But lets say your only looking for gold nuggets or want to get in the salt water to hunt. This would be different machines too. So what will you be hunting and where?

I live in Idaho and would anticipate using the machine in a wide variety environments and looking from anything from coins, nuggets to artifacts. From what I have read about the DFX it is maybe more of an all-purpose unit that is not defined to any one specific type of hunting. Thanks for the input.

Your actually describing the MXT. It would be a high end unit that will do everything you want. It's easier to set up and run for your different environments.

Where in Idaho. HH Dennis in Idaho

The MXT is a very nice coin finder..... and a awesome relic detector....:clapping:..... and the only way you can beat it in prospecting is to buy a detector just for gold.........MXT is # 1 in my book { unless you want to spend more time programing your machine then detecting } Just my opinion!...:detecting:....:whites:...

Welcome. I am new to this hobby myself. I just go the MXT 300. It is very easy to use and it has done a very good job.

Unless you are planning on some salt water beach hunting, the MXT is a lot easier to learn and generally just as good IMHO. The DFX has a very long learning curve if you want to get the best from it.

Thanks for the input everyone. Looks like I need to do some more reading. Sounds like the MXT would be a better selection for me at this level.

I have both the DFX and the MXT both of them are great. It's my opinion, the MXT will flat out beat the DFX when it comes to shooting for gold nuggets. The DFX Also has a learning curve and it will take a while to master. Also try to find someone in your area to hunt with, it makes a big difference when you are trying to learn. So you might want to look at getting the MXT. I think that you will really will like it.

If you decide on the MXT contact me. I live in Caldwell just down the road and I will help you get started. I hear you on the Broncos. They should be playing in the Fiesta bowl not Ohio.:rant:JMHO. HH Dennis in Idaho
