DFX on the beach

mrowdy

New member
Okay, okay,so I can't go in the water to hunt like those Excaliburs, but my DFX has found 16 gold rings in the wet sand in the last six months. As soon as I learn how to reduce the picture size, I'll post the pictures. PS. I have an Excalibur 1000....just don't use it very often.

I edit mine thru the photo shop in my computer reducing photo to 25%... I bet there is someone who could help you here...would really be nice to see the pics!

What makes reducing easy for me is, I Email them to myself. The browser asks if I want them reduced and check yes. Nice going on the beach finds.

Rowdy...that's good to hear. I have both the Excal 1000 and the DFX, but mosty use the 1000 at the NJ beach. BUT...my arm is starting to KILL me !

What settings do you use and where are you hunting ( salt water beach ?). I have found a nice 14k bracelet with the DFX as well as some silver toe rings. Sometimes I think the Excal does go a little deeper, but I may have to bring out the DFX and fiddle with the settings a little to get more depth.

I use a modified Relic program with the preamp at 3, AC sens at 70, DC at 40 and it does well. I can't bump up the pre-amp to 4 on the beaches I hunt because it becomes to unstable ( but I have not tried turning the AC sens down so I may try that).

I always like to hear hunters hitting gold on the beach with the DFX. It is a really great detector. The reason I use the Excal more is because I get into the suds and it's peace of mind more than anything...I don't want my DFX fried buy the salt water if a wave decides it wants to greet me.

Good question... I'm using the original stock coil...probably 5 years old, using the beach and jewelry mode. I have not tweeked the machine at all.

the reason I love the DFX is that you can walk at a good pace and still hit the targets. You can also hunt for hours, and not wear yourself out. I work the waterline and sand bars at low tide. I'm doing one or two Gulf of Mexico beaches while I'm in FL on vacation. When I return to FL next summer, I'll spend some time in the water with the Beach Hunter ID. It's so much lighter than the Excal. I'm just a start-up-and-go type, and use the beach and jewelry mode because it's so easy to pinpoint.

An easy way to reduce if you use windows is

open the "paint" program (start-accessories-paint)

"file" on the top/left

"open" select the image

after the image loads you go on "image" top/center and "stretch/skew"

just select the new size in %.

Great job ! If you are using the stock coil and the factory pre-set programs then that tells me you are utilizing 2 of the most important things needed to find good targets:

1) Putting in the time
2) Having a good spot to hunt

Keep up the great work and I hope you get more gold so you can post more pics !

Congrats Mrowdy, may I ask what setting you have the DFX on, Best Data with the coin jewelry preset?
