DFX on platinum rings ?

The nice used DFX I purchased recently arrived today and as fate would have it so did a request to find a lost platinum ring with some nice stones. I know this is a loaded question with a lot of variables but I was just wondering if there's some good tips as far as programs or features to help me find this specific type of ring ( LARRY !?! ) with the DFX. I may have no business even thinking of using this machine since I've hardly even turned it on yet but I've obviously heard of it's capabilities finding rings so I'm just hoping I can get a quick primer that would allow me to specifically target this ring. I've read that platinum has even lower conductivity than gold by volume so that's the only region on the VDI I'd be looking for. The ring may be in water up to 4' deep all the way to right on shore. I'm bringing my Surfmaster PI, BHID 300 and of course my MXT. Any suggestions or tips on any aspect of this upcoming challenge would be greatly appreciated. I'll be leaving early Friday morning 7/30 and I want to be ready for any situation. The location is 2-3 hours away. Thanks.

Until you are better acquainted with the DFX, I would suggest using the MXT Scott. The MXT is a great ring finder. Platinum rings depending on size could be single digit or in the teens for VDI's. Small platinum could even be in the - range and large ones could be in the 20's-30's.

That's what I was thinking Larry but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. Chances are it's in the water anyways so I will most likely be using the PI. If there's an unforseen iron trash problem I have the BHID 300, which I'm not very familiar with either. Oh well, I'll just have to give it my best shot. Any other advice or suggestions are still welcome. I'm going into uncharted waters for myself (literally). Thanks.

Not much advise to give Scott, on the water machines, if it beeps..dig. On the BHID, it would most likely be the yellow light with Red being iron and green, coins. On the MXT, I would dig everything from -90 to +50.

Thanks again for the advice Larry. That is basically my plan but getting confirmation from an expert means everything as far as confidence...and confidence is everything. The plan's still a go for this Friday...I'll let you know how it goes.
