DFX finds old coin spill.

That is something that doesnt happen everyday, but to make it even more rare one of those wheaties wouldnt happen to be a 1909 s vdb would it? If it is you can probably bet you will never have a find like that again...lol, Ive only been looking for one for the past 15 years...lol.... Nice Finds the DFX is a great detector.

My best coil spill was 4 or 5 v nickles, a barber dime, and several wheats in the same hole...And to top it off there was a small pocket knife under all those coins at the bottom of the hole. Mine read like a silver dime because that coin was on top of the pile. How did yours read and which coin was on top?

I heard a story about a guy who was trying out his new Pro Pointer. He received a large signal near the surface that he thought was a pop can, but figured he'd try to outline it with his pinpointer. Ended up that he saw several distinct targets instead of just one big one when scanning the top of the undug yet soil with his ProPointer. Turned out to be 4 or 5 Franklin halfs less than an inch deep if I remember right.

Not sure if he used this trick but if I've got multiple targets in the hole I'll turn on the pinpointer with it about a half a foot away from my digger. This detunes the thing and makes it less sensitive...And then you can sniper or trace out the size and location of multiple targets without the thing just going off constantly around them. If your soil is mineralized you can also turn it on with it's tip touching the ground to stop it from falsing in the soil, but I've rarely had to do that as 99% of the time it works just fine.

Hey Critter. The silver Rosie was on top, then the two wheats and finally the Buffalo. I was pretty psyched. It was in my Aunt's tiny back yard. HH. Matt

Nice find Matt. Gotta love those coin spills! (not to mention those 40's)

Yes, it's always the first coin on top that the coil "sees". These coils can't see past the first metal object they hit, despite some talk about the supposed new separation abilities of a new machine that the wording makes it sound like that. One target at a time is ALL the field can see.
