dfx coils

I have a dfx metal detector. With a stock coil and would like to know about a different size coil for farm fields Thank You Jim.

Farm fields with lots of trash or little trash? Do you want to cover a lot of ground quickly for surface targets or hunt more slowly looking for something deep? What will you be hoping to find?

A lot of loop information about the 21 loops for the DFX is posted on the DFX forum, first sticky post, but we will be glad to answer your question if we new how you were going to be using another loop.

Jim I also have a DFX and have used several coils on it. I currently have a 5.3 eclipse, a DD 10x14, the original 950 that came with it and a DD 6x10. At this point I have pretty much continued to use the DD6x10. It allows for good depth and adequate area coverage. I am extremely happy with it and supposedly it is excellent in mineralized ground. I have used the 5.3 which is not as deep and covers a smaller area but exceptional in trashy ground. I bought the DD10x14 for a really good price and have used it for about 20 to 30 hrs. but my arm can't take it any more due to the weight. The 10x14 seemed to deep but my arm got longer, it got to be no fun when using it. So I have split the difference by using the DD6x10. I have not used the DD4x6 which does about the same as the DD6x10 but does not go as deep and covers less area too. I hope this has answered some of your questions.

fccdfed,
I found a great tool that allows me to swing for hours. I have arm and shoulder problems that would prevent me from detecting if I did not have the Swingy Thingy. I know the name sounds stupid, but it really works for me. If interested just Google Swingy Thingy.

Good luck,
BB
