Dfx and v3i detecting the same area.

Looking into buying the v3i detector soon. Already have a DFX and am just looking at a second detector(possibly get the wife into the hobby). I have looked quite a bit on this subject but must have missed any info posted on this. My big question is how close can the DFX and v3i be used when detecting the same area? Hoping the frquencies do not interfere with each other a lot. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I have not used both side by side but there should be little, if any interference. The DFX uses 3 and 15 KHZ and the V is 2.5, 7.5 and 22.5.

I have a DFX and my friend has a V3i, his V3i didn't get any interference from the DXF but I couldn't get within 10 to 15 feet of him before I started to get interference. The last time we hunted together he used a frequency offset and I was able to stand right next to him without any problem. I don't know how much offset to use, but I know it works.

Same here. A friend of mine just got a DFX and was getting hit with interference from my V3i from a good 5-10 feet. maybe even further. I went and set a +1 offset and could hunt right next to him. martin

Since you already have the DFX I can understand you think your wife might use it. I think there are friendlier choices for the Mrs. The DFX would make a better second unit for you than one to get her feet wet with. Sure you can set a program for her and save it but the DFX wouldnt be the easiest for a newbie to grasp. If you are going to buy a new V3i from a dealer he may cut you a package deal with one of the coinmasters. I got a heck of a deal bundling a CMPro with a V3i. The CMaster series is user friendly with all the adjustments on the pad and very light weight. I just threw this out cause I know the desire to share detecting with your wife but the first intro - first impression is important.

My wife and I sometime hunt together. As stated we can usually hunt within 10-15 feet of each other. Im using the V she is using the DFX. I set up her DFX before we start and off she goes. Sometimes I question my V3I cause this woman is making some killer finds!

That's correct! A simpler machine for your wife if you can get a good deal. Keep the DFX when she's ready to step up. I gave my friend my DFX and it smoked his brain for a long while until I gave him a lot of one on one. Remember most chicks arent into this. Take a guy friend. My wife's machine went up on ebay (she just wasn't interested).
