Deus small coil ?

The answer to "can they do it" is yes . . . the real question is "will it provide any benefit over the 9" given the seperation it provides" and just as importantly "would it justify the price tag that goes with it" . . . . . the 9" coil is quite impressive with both depth and target seperation so developing a smaller coil is not very high on the "do-do" list for the XP engineers in light of other projects that are on the drawing boards.

I would think its possible to produce a smaller coil but its not as easy as other small coils due to the fact that the coil has all the battery and electronic circuits inside the coil housing,so that could be a major problem.Of course i could be wrong but logic tells me that could be a major hurdle in the design of a small coil.

They should make a smaller coil. The Fors Core has shown that a smaller coil with good design can hit more targets between the junk.

That is perfectly true as most detector manufactures produce coils that go down ultra small size wise but these coils are made with only the windings in the coil case the Deus coil not only has the windings inside but also the battery and all the electronics to make it totally wireless and that is the differance. Its getting all that stuff inside say a 6'' coil that could well be the problem.

If that is the case that its a 10x5 coil then of course it very possible to get all the electronics etc inside the coil cover but most folks when they talk about a smaller sun stock size coil assume say the 5-7'' size round coil of course that would be a problem, but in say a eliptical shape coil then that would be a very easy job i would have thought.

(my first message has been erased - maybe because of the link?) but the answer is on xp's forum, so yes a smaller coil (24 cm * 11 cm or 10"x5") will be provided on the 2nd semester of this year.
Bye.

Agreed! The 9" is amazing in trash. I dont see a point for a smaller coil than the 9". It blows me away every time.

Actually and in my own opinion, this small coil will be a great tool to stick the ground between shrubs in the bush which is my favorite hunting spot, sometimes a small coil could make the difference to catch targets that my 9" coil couldn't access... it's a niche market but it's a cool one for me!

Given everything stated, could a smaller than 9 inch coil function almost like a pin pointer? Just thinking out loud (in print).

I have LOADS of places where a small Deus coil would shine - just waiting on the next great thing from XP! These are places where local hunters stay away from, but I've found thousands of coins there and there's no shortage of real estate nor targets remaining...
