Deteknix or Minelab profind?

7centsworth

Well-known member
I just bought a metal detector and it had a brand new never used Minelab pro find. I like it but I wish it vibrated a tad more. For those of you who have used both which do you prefer an why?

Don't get the X-pointer if you want more vibration! The X-Pointer lacks in this area. The Garrett has about the best vibration feature out there. I have not tried any of the Nokta or Makro pin-pointers though. I also have never personally tried the profind.

Here are a couple short video comparisons for you.

Thanks I will leach that when I get home from work.

Have never used the Minelab pointer and the No1 reason is the price, the X-pointer does seem to have a very large following albeit not in the same league sales wise as the Garrett,it does have some advantages being a Pulse based pointer but its not for me,the good old Garrett has never let me down and if it ever did die on me i would buy another non-waterproof version again and the reason is why change something that works,as i dont do detecting in or near water then a waterproof and hence the extra cost i cannot justify buying one.

Of course pinpointer all have good and bad points, but for me its the Garrett as it does everything and reliably as well, always carry a backup pinpointer anyway and was lucky i had a Whites BullsEye from years ago and once again that i found reliable as well but alas did not have that all important increase in sound the nearer the target feature that most pointers have.

The x pointer is a little deeper than the garrett and is
a little louder.I had the X pointer on the 3rd setting in the demonstration. The next setting is the deepest. Both great pinpointers.

Sorry, I don't have a Minelab to compare. Maybe someone else will have a few others to add to the mix.

i bought the deteknic pin pointer on the 9-15-2014 and the micro on/off switch has died.the switch is faulty, turning on maybe, off well something is going to happen sooner or later, hmmmm!i think i voided the warranty by opening the carton and turning it on.looks pretty on the shelf.never again.emubob
