Detector's allowed on plane

John in Tampa

New member
Anyone taken a metal detector on a plane lately. I've flying out next Friday and am worried about it as a carry on and maybe even as a Checked bag. Thinking about shipping it instead.

Comments?

I am a frequent flyer and the best advice I can give you is to call the specific airline that you are flying and speak to a Representative and they should be able to give you your best option. JMHO.

i just had a buddy fly in from texas, two weeks ago, he had no problems but was not able to bring his digger, for reasons we can all understand. So be prepared to buy a digger lol good luck bryan.

If I'm traveling within the U.S. I like to send my detector by way of FedEx or UPS. No hassle and less chance of being lost by the airlines.

On a trip to Idaho over the summer I packed my dissembled MXT in my luggage (checked) with no problems:)
But if you are going with just carry on, than that would be a problem:sad:
I flew Alaska Air
