Detectorpro Uniprobe all in one

Anyone using this with the CTX? If so how bad is the cross-talk and what can/do you do to defeat it? I am missing pinpointing on edge coins and feel that a PI device would better help me.

Mine is one of the first ones made and been a great probe and headphones combo and recommend it over the pocket Uni Probe as feel it works better plus you get a great set of headphones too as it is all in one and seems to have good volume for those that are very hard of hearing.
When I have been able to get out with my CTX 3030 I find I don't get any crosstalk or very little and then there is a knob that can be turned to change the freq a bit so I don't seem to have any real problem.
The good and the bad about it is this probe picks up all metal so it is not as nice as the Sun Ray we used on the other Minelabs, but it is smaller and does detect deeper too being a pulse detector probe. both the probe cable and the headphone cable can be changed without sending the whole set of headphones in. Mine seem to get unstable when the battery is down a bit and the rechargeable 9 volt batteries don't seem to work as it is real unstable with them. Mine is one of the original ones and you have to be care full not to bump the toggle switch to turn them on and run the battery low when you store the Uni Probe.I believe the new ones have the one toggle switch that goes front to back instead of up and down and can see where this will help not bumping it on and also tell you which toggle switch is for the probe and the compatibility switch. On my CTX mine don't shut off the speaker like all the aftermarket headphones and did make a adapter when I use them without the wireless module as when I use them with it it seems to be OK.
I know I do like mine on every detector I have tried them on and to me it is the best for the CTX so I have a decent probe to find those deeper coins or those at a angle and throw off the pinpointing. Just need to spend more time with my CTX and learn it more as it seems a little tough for me, but I shouldn't be trying only the well worked areas where my Sovereign GT, the Explorers and my E-Trac has quit finding coins at.

To add a little to Rick's post, the Uniprobe does work pretty well with the CTX but doesnt turn the detector speaker off when connected directly to the CTX.. I use the Uniprobe with the the WM10 which works well & is easier to keep the 2 cables from getting tangled than when plugging directly into a detector... I contacted Detector Pro right after the CTX came out & ask if they had or would have a different cable available for the CTX & their response was to buy the adapter from radio shack.. Not really the kind of answer I was hoping for.....wildherre

Well if that is their advice to a potential market of users then I guess I don't need one.

Thanks for letting me know about their customer service before I had to deal with them myself.

I made a quick adapter for mine using a mono L shaped plug and a short cord and put on the stereo jack and it works great, the instruction I believe in on one of the stickies. If you use the wireless set up you don't need the adapter as it works fine and like Wildherre said keeps the cords from being tangled up. I put the wireless module in my pocket and run the headphone cable around my next and put it into the wireless control box. On my Uni Probe and being the cable can be changed easy I got one for Detector pro with the 1/8 inch plug too for detectors like the Deus, so now I have a set of Uni Probe that will work on any detector.
As far as customer service Detector Pro is one of the best you will find.

My hunting buddy, Golddigger, sent his old Gray Ghosts in and they came back fixed under warranty...

Wouldn't worry about Gary Storm at DetectorPro. First class all the way...

Guvner..

The fact that they told the customer to buy an adapter rather than addressing the issue is what gets me. Sure, they would have to wire in a resistor to each pair they market and sell as CTX specific but in the end they would be giving the customer what they want vice telling them what they need.

It's cheaper to get the adapter from radio shack, hence their response. Sure they could of said it in a more customer friendly way but it is what it is.

I agree - however the added length of the adapter lends itself to breaking off and possibly damaging the detector.

I think if they have their DMC line marketed toward CTX users they could also make a Uniprobe version as well.

At any rate - anyone else have experience with this combination? I do not want to hear any chatter in the phones while I am probing and really do not want to set the CTX four feet away just to probe.
