Detector transmitter power ...

Willee - Texas

Well-known member
Is the amount of RF a metal detector is allowed to transmit limited by the USA FCC rules?

If so do other countries allow more power?

No, the Federal Communications Commission does not control the power output of hobby detectors. The new White's V3 has a TX Boost feature that raises the power output 300% if the ground where you are hunting will allow it. Sure plays heck with the batteries though. That is why some of the higher power detectors have battery packs that you wear on your back.

Willee,i am almost sure it is regulated,in my belief this is what keeps detector companies running so close in competition with one another!.Chucky.ANY DEVICE THAT SENDS OUT TRANSMIT SIGNALS IS REGULATED.

All of the companies are very close because that is what works best for most ground conditions vs. battery life. Too much power will cause ground signal saturation and you won't find anything and the noise will drive you bonkers. Most of the detectors made now can not run "full RX" with the power that they DO use.

To the best of my knowledge I have never seen anything any place on the detector or within the documentation pertaining to FCC Compliance!

Most Detectors operate below any frequencies they seem to be concerned about.

The Computer is!

Yes Willee, it's all a government conspiracy. If you can get past that, and get a full-powered metal detector, you can find coins at 2 ft. deep! But shhhhhh, don't tell anyone, or "they" will have to silence you, the same way the silenced the UFO sightings, captured spaceships, black helicoptors, etc... Ssshhhhhh !

I heard (from a reliable source) that they parked the Roswell craft too close to the stockpile of government cheese and it is growing neuro-receptors... and may soon run our government. (Things are looking up!!!)

I think they are kidding about the electronics. Rightly, I think they're seriously accurate about the government!
