I have permission to detect a Old Home site.. Including being able to look around inside...

I found a brand new Double edge razor in a wooden type container from Gillett.......... Nice gold color with a brand new package..(Never Opened) Blue Blades ??

OUCH !! No wonder there were so many Beards back in the day... I am of the age that Stainless Blades have been on the market since I started shaving LOL

How in the world did you guys stand scrapping your beard off with those blades... Most uncomfortable shave I have ever done in my LIFE !!..........

My Neighbor wanted the razor, and the blades.. Let me tell you !!. I immediately gave him both.............. Thank goodness for Stainless Blades and new type razors ..Hahahahah

 Gillett Blue Blades ...

Howdy Elton--

Good luck at that old home site! Dig something old AND gold! A while back I dug up an old single edge razor it's either a "GEM" or "JEM". If that was all that I had to shave with I'd have a beard as long as those guys on Duck Dynasty hahah! Best of luck and...

They were quite bad about cutting you. Yes I am one of those old Pharts that learned to shave with a Gillette Double Edge Razor. Even knew how to straighten the edge with a glass. Those old rascals are now collectable.

Us young'ins don't know much LOL

After using the blade you could take it out of the razor and place it inside of a glass. Press it against the side of the glass and move it back and forth. Then turn it over and do the same. It acted like a leather strop did with a straight razor. Money was a scarce commodity in our house when I was growing up and that trick allowed you to get a few shaves out of the blade.

Ha. I still have my first razor: a Gillette Double Edged! I haven't used it in almost 50 years. Please don't talk about a razor strop though. My Dad had one hanging in the pantry and I "felt" the buckle end more than I care to remember...OUCH! hahhah

It's amazing the things we can learn here...If we just take the time to "Listen" (Read) ....

..I find it extremely interesting to learn how people used to do things.

My first peach fuzz removal was using Gillette Blue Blades in boot camp. At the time I remember them being considered the best. I do remember my Dad telling of freshening up the edges on double edged blades with a water glass Gillette or otherwise during WW2. The glass had to have perfectly straight sides though. I tried it once or twice, just because, but never felt any improvement.

Blind Squirrel I too felt the razor strop more times than I care to remember. My Father was epileptic and he took his anger at the hand life had dealt him out on his Wife and Children. Under todays standards he would be considered A Child Abuser. Back then it was okay as long as you didn't kill the child. Had him use a limb off an apple tree to ruin a new pair of jeans. After he finished I had blood in my shoes. But Life goes on and I am still here. Scared but still alive and relatively healthy. In a few days I will celebrate the 73rd anniversary of my birth. Life Is GREAT!!!!!!
