Detector Pro Head Hunter

Ok guys what do you know about the Head Hunter? My son wants a detector for the beach for around $300 he doesnt know if he will like the hobby..... but hes very interested. Ive got a couple of detectors and he can barrow one for sand digging.... but he would prefer to pay his own way and get one. HH has pretty good reviews for what it is. Its a VLF around 3 kHz i believe and it looks like its all in the head phones. Give me some opinions on this or something elce may in the price range.
