Detector Interference

Stogger

Member
I'm new and just learning the CTX-3030. Has anyone experienced where the detector goes nuts, the screen looks like fireworks with continuous "hits" in all modes, audio is a concert, and it doesn't matter which direction the detector is pointing (up, down, sideways). This occurred with the headphones plugged in so not due to wireless interference. There is a 20 yard diameter area around some buildings (apartments) where I experienced this. the phenomema drops off drastically outside this area. Interesting: but I hope this didn't somehow affect the electronics of the detector. Thanks.

Since you said it drops off after a certain distance from the area, then it's just electronic interference and not a problem with the detector. I have had the same problem and it is usually caused by underground electric lines.

There is an electric fence around one of the field I detect, dang thing interferes with the detector in a similar manner even at a great distance..
