Detector for very difficult site?

Hi there,I was going to ask a silly question I know, but perhaps you expierienced out there can humour me for a minute? Here goes,I have permission to hunt on a 16 acre field ,that has recently had the dredgings of about 5 miles of canal ( I,m in the UK!) deposited on it.As you can imagine ,it will be heavily contaminated with junk, but could contain some goodies from the last 200 yrs in it somewhere. I have an old Fisher 1265x that I do my other messing about with, but having got used to that ,I doubt it might drive me mad using it,and I want to get a detector that will at least stand a chance of combating all the ring pulls and other bits, and something that might not nessasarily be the dearest, but robust and economic too. Hope I dont start a war ,and thanks for reading my musings, Thanks Anthony.

Been doing a lot of reading, and yes ,I discovered the thread lower down about! I think maybe a 1236x2 might fit the bill.

Don't know if this is something you might be interested in, but there is a guy selling a detector called a "Red Heat Tornado" that this fellow designed specifically for hunting along the Thames. You know how many types of rubbish there is in and along it's banks. He has it listed in the Metal Detecting Equipment Classified Forum here in the Findmall list of forums. I know nothing about this machine and I am not endorsing it. I just thought it kind of matched up with what you were looking for.
Good luck.

Jim

I don't know if this is really a good idea but it might be worth a try . Since this is all dirt from the river that is being dumped why not make a sifter . and shovel the dirt into the sifter. Who knows what you might find .
