Detector Choice For Corpus Christi Beach

OldeTymer

New member
I currently own a Fisher 1236-X2, Ace250 and Vaquero. I realize that none of them is a CZ-20, or Excalibur, but was wondering if anyone could tell me which one of the three would work the "best" on the wet/damp sand at Corpus Christi? I would guess they would all work ok in the dry sand. Just going to be there for a few days late this month, and was wanting to do a little hunting while I'm there. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
OldeTymer

Hey Olde Tymer, I think that you will do ok with the units you have there. Never owned a Fisher, but I would bet that 1 will do fine in wet/damp sand and the Garrett I have used in the dry stuff and it does well. There are quite a few people in Galveston using the Ace in the damp stuff, but you will have to back off on the sensitivity some. Just use the Fisher and I think you will do fine. I hunted it last summer with a Mark II pi and it was no fun at all (full of nails). You will need to take ferrous out of the equation or you will be busy digging junk. Good luck and let us know how ya do. GH
