detecting with snow on ground.....

I posted this elswhere on this board but maybe should have posted here.
I have the XLT and was wondering can I detect thru the snow ? Or do I have to brush the snow off the ground before detecting ? The ground is not frozen here because of the snow thats been on the ground since late Nov.
Thanks in advance!

Don

I've used my XLT many times in the snow, works well and like VA Dave said, the wetter the better. I get a lot of ghost signals when it's really wet but think they are Ox shoe nails, 48 nails per Ox and I've found several Ox shoes, LOL. Also using the 12" Hot Shot coil, great enhancement to the detector if you can use a bigger coil. If you're out there in the cold and snow, take extra care of the equipment, it's cold and more brittle than usual. HH, Mike
