:detecting:When out after work for my first hunt of the year to a small patch of land that everyone with a detecter has hit.:detecting:

There a place up the road and in the woods that was a small barn than make breakfasts on weekend.Big servings.Cool little place looks like a little rat hole from the out side but the in side's fixed up,fireplace and all.

A "mudder" I'm not! Been redoing the basement. I don't think it's been touched in about 150 years or so. Hung sheetrock over the old, falling down, horsehair plaster. Adding lights, redoing the fireplace, painting everything. Ping pong room now but still have work to do on it.

I know, but you think your doing fine, hahaha

The first sign of a weekend warrior is the dead give away of the plastic yellow pan bought at Ed's hardware store

I hated it when Jeff, my old boss would say these words, Ray, we have a problem!!!!!!!!! The weekend warrior thought he could do the mudding because he saw it on this old house on cable T.V.

First off bud, give the yellow plastic pan to your lovely wife Sharon, she might be able to use it in the back forty spreading flower seeds

A real mudder uses a steel pan with a steel knife, yes, they are called knife's because I could mud your house with it in the morning and butcher your beef cow at dinner time all in the same day  using steel, steel slapping up against steel makes for a sharp edge!

Here's a pro with steel pan and knife in hand ;)

Mudding is a art Vernon, many do it but 100% of them don't know what they are doing, first thing I notice here in Alabama was that they hang 1/4 inche drywall on their walls, this makes for a weak wall, should be 1/2 on the walls, second thing I notice is that they use 1/2 inche on the ceilings, this is a big time no no, 1/2 inche is so weak on a ceiling that a good wind storm will blow your house down, always use 5/8 on ceilings, 1/2 inche is what you should use on your walls, not ceilings, will break down over time and sage, and another thing is a pro never uses nails to nail off his drywall, a pro will tack the drywall up with nails then use drywall srews, don't believe me, just ask Bubba  I'll never forget his words, Ray, whats wrong with this ceiling, I said it's simple Craig, it's weak because it is only 1/2 and is nailed, I didn't even need to break out the Standly Tape  A pro can see this that easy, I wish I could be there to help you Vernon, I could make short work of it but from the looks of things, Bubba needs me here more, hahaha, he still thinks 5/8 is 1 inche

Your doing fine Vern, keep up the good work

This mud's for you bud
