:detecting:PLATYPUS COIL ON A SE???

platypus coil? has any one used it on a explorer SE, how dose it work compared to the stock coil i tried a 15" wot and liked how it read all coins but a little on the big side for every day hunting. THANKS FOR ANY HELP, don't want to flush 230 bucks down the crapper.

I've used one on my se in England and liked it better than the stock coil. Don't use it much here because the places I hunt are either trashy (use a smaller coil) or big ( use my 15" WOT)

The Excelerator 10 x 14 coil is a VERY nice alternative to the stock coil. It's a fine quality coil, can be run hotter than the stock coil, goes deeper, gets better coverage, and has nice trash separation for it's size. One downside is that it's heavy, though not nearly as heavy as the WOT, so again, a nice alternative. I like it for farm fields, the woods, and the beach. I would also highly recommend the Excelerator 12.5". It's about the same weight as stock, well balanced, great coverage, and pinpoints very well.

Here's the 10 x 14, next to the stock Slimline 10.5"...

Here it is solo...

Here's the 12.5"...you can see it on the left, the stocker on the right, and the Excelerator 4.5" x 7" in the middle.

Hi edgemano,

I used the Platypus on my SE up until recently and didn't find much difference if any from the stock coil, I have since listed it on Ebay and sold it.
I would say stick with the stock coil rather than fork out a couple of hundred bucks for something thats only going to do the same job.
I also have the 15" WOT and like it for beach hunting and like you I find it a little heavy.

Well of course it depends on the type of ground, size of the coin, settings, etc. But I will say that it gets some deep stuff. Most of what I used it for was farm field hunting, but it wasn't plowed field. It's deeper than the stocker and as deep as the 12.5". What I liked was the design of it and the way it pinpointed and handled the higher settings with more stability.
