Detecting in the dark 2

Ran off to that old parking lot again tonight. They had removed about 40 more feet of slab.
I have been detecting for 23 years and have found seated quarters barbers and washingtons but never a SLQ. Well finally tonight i found one. Its worn out really bad but who cares its silver. :clapping:

Wow, good job. These sites open and then are gone quickly. You are wise to hit it as much as you can. There are probably some great coins left.
Keep at it, beats the heck out of pull tabs and can slaw.

Yea I'm sure by the end of the week there will be a new parking lot on that spot. So I'm getting it wile i can. There ain't any can slaw there just millions of old beer bottle caps that have just about rusted away. Thanks for the comments.

and WTG on taking advantage of the window of opportunity for hitting that lot.

I will also agree with BB that the ID Excel is a very underrated iron picker. I liken it to a digital 1236 with tone and visual ID.

I would like to have the id-edge but couldn't justify buying another unit that was almost the exact same thing so i stayed with the id-excel. I wouldn't have ever used notches cause I don't use disc at all on any machine at any time. I use my ears only. I dont even use the meter really. I may glance at it sometimes. I hunt in the dark without light. That's how i train myself when i get a new unit. If i do go out with a new unit in the day i cover the screen till i learn what its telling me with the sound. I'm a die hard when it comes to learning a detector. I have a new unit on its way to me now and I plan on covering it or using it in the dark till i get it learned.

tough to find 'em with readable dates,as they wore rapidly upon circulating!..still,a "tough" find, and always a good 'un!..nice!

The Excel is great at what it does, picking thru trash/iron. Where it fell down for me was for field hunting. In long grass or stubble where the coil cannot be kept close to the ground depth suffers quite a bit. The Edge has enough of an increase in punch that it does very well in those conditions. In uneven plowed ground it's performance reminds me of the T2.

Oh so fisher did put some more power in the ground when they made the id-edge. I didn't know that. See I should have been reading more instead of just looking at pics. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I may have to find me one with a 10 inch coil.
