Detecting in NC

Charley

New member
I recently purchased my first metal detector and hope to use it this summer on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. A friend told me that he thought that metal detecting was illegal on the outer banks. Does anyone know if this is true? I will be in the Avon area and hope to do some detecting while I am there. Thanks for any info you can give me regarding this.

Better keep it hid in the Avon area. Don't even take it out of the trunk. You can hunt from Nags Head north. South of Nags Head is National Seashore all the way to Atlantic Beach. On the National Seashore the government would rather the goodies be ground to powder than for you to find something with your detector.:thumbdown
