I'm still trying to find the optimal mixture. Lately I've just been using baking soda disolved in the water.

What's your electrolyte? The chain cleaned up nice.

Don't mean to hijack this post, but I have used nothing more than lemonade powdered drink mix(unsweetened) for reverse electrolysis in the past, and it works like a champ. Use the usual procedure you would with a piece of stainless steel. I used to use the flatware that was mismatched out of the kitchen drawer until the wife caught me and threatened to use another piece of flatware on me, mainly a knife if she caught me using her spoons again. :argue: Hope this helps...

I'M new to this, What are you using hooking wires to + to liquid or object, A battery or a wall socket

Use between 12V and 15V DC
I've got and endless supply of stainless spoons - I dug up from the lake bottom.

Just find gold -
You usally Dont have to clean it!!

Grid it and Dig it

You will need:
Couple of alligator clips
12v thru 15V transformer DC current
Stainless steel spoon
Cold water
Glass
Something to hold the second alligator clip on the side of the glass or from going to the bottom
1 tablespoon Baking soda - or salt and couple of drops of lemon juice
time for 5 min
Hook one alligator clip to the spoon and the other to the object
dont let the to objects touch
A 120v Wall socket
If you hook it up backwards the spoon will Bubble
Just switch the alligator clips

you may not need to run out and buy a fancy power supply...

I haven't seen anyone mention using a plain old car battery charger as a DC source for the home brew electrolysis. I use one and it works just fine.
