Is there any problem in detecting in vicinity of Freeport or Nassau in Bahamas.

Have a cruise lines up for April 1st and looks like we will have some time in Freeport and Nassau - any detecting restrictions? is there Any detecting close to the docking areas?

WELL having just got back from a cruise which included a nassau stop.....It seems that they just fired up an OLD law that you have to purchase a one time $25. detecting permit if your not a resident (I think ED from sw fl also posted this info)

I'm going down there in early/mid april and just curious where you picked up your permit.

I had no trouble on or off the ship with security. Went to Paradise Island , took a $5.00 taxi trip to public beach. The beach is just down from Atlantis. Steep beach waves were brutal, Atlantis life guard said if I was there the day before it was perfect at low tide. The life guard said people hunt there all the time as long as you stay below high tide mark. it is public beach all the way to Atlantis. BUT!! You could not walk a straight line to the beach it was so crowded, thousands of People. (5 Cruise ships in port at that time). no way of swinging a MD. The Lifeguards don't leave the beach till 7:00 pm. and most people leave then. I could not stay that late do to other things scheduled. If you could catch a low tide without the 20mph wind it looked to be a great place to MD.
