Detecting around Clevland Ohio ?

A

Guest
Going to Clevland for a week in april, was wondering about detecting around Lake Erie beaches or parks.
Any rules or regs I should be aware of?
Thanks in advance...

The Cleveland MetroParks are off limits except for any kind of beach or swimming area. The beaches along Lake Erie are okay, lots of trash at Edgewater Beach which is close to downtown.I've had some decent finds at Huntington Beach in Bay Village.
There are some city parks like in Lorain, right off of RT 57 close to the lake, behind the National Guard Armory which is okay to hunt. It's a pretty old city park and I've found several coins from the mid to late 1800's.

But you can detect in the Cleveland Metroparks, just have to go to the park district and get a permit once a year (for detecting). Has all the rules of what you can and cannot do. NOTE: In Summit County (Akron, OH) Metroparks though there is no detecting allowed, or any other parks throughout the county. David.
