Detecting along the edge of sidewalks....

Detecting the edge of sidewalks around park and recreation sites can lead to many finds..people walking and running usually wear ear phones of some type and never hear that they drop an item, which usually ends up along the edge of the walk..runners generally pass walkers and joggers in the grass.so detecting from the edge of the walk to 3 to 5 feet out is worth it...however, you do get alot of damaged items from the edgers...HH...

Those are some beat-up coins! I run across a few that look like those....probably hit by the mowers.

I never had much luck with sidewalks, but since I purchased my sniper coil I think I will try them out again, congrats on the coins and thanks for the tips. HHH

Sidewalks are great!!! Tried the one in front of my house, chucky cheese token heaven!

Got 2 silver halves last year out of sidewalk strips....and a EF 1915s dime.....and a 1891 seated quarter.....and other stuff. I like sidewalk strips.

Hey Bob, I found a penny next to the side walk today and it had a ding on the rim of it, and I thought about about your post here, that the lawn mowers cause this to the coins, my luck might be changing! Thanks for the post, HHH

I once did 5 city blocks of torn out, and still sitting walks..Got one mercury dime. Not many clad coins either...

I guess Elton we need to carry a rabbits foot in our pockets and throw salt over our shoulder!

I like to do sidewalks that are around rec centers, they have walkers, joggers, and runners morning, noon, and night.I also like the walks that are only 4' wide, because most of my finds are right on the edge.I will first walk the coil in all metal along the edge first, and then sweep from the edge out, back to were i started.
Not everything gets messed up by the stick-edgers,here are some other sidewalk finds that i got in good condition!!

Nice Bob thanks for the tip! That's a deal Elton! HHH now I need a wabbits foot! Lol!
