Recently picked up an explorer SE-only tried it twice before today. I always use alot of discrimination -and I still dig plenty of trash-just look at my posts!! Today though- with the Explorer- I tried something different-I set it up using Bryce Brown's settings in the Minelab Explorer handbook. The only discrim-is iron mask set at 22. It was a little scary with all the sounds of diff targets -but I took it real slow---the best way as I've found out-- in the last year with my Safari. I dug alot of not too good signals today--just learning and seeing what's in the ground making that sound at me but I managed two keepers and one is a first for me!!! I dug the barber half at about 7-8 in--- it rang up in the low 20s --00 22-- 00 24 and maybe once at 00 25--sure was nice to see this!! I found this in the first 45 minutes today!! I really like having two sets of numbers to look at-- on the screen - it really seems to help in id-ing a target. The other coin today was a barber dime- I forget exactly what it rang up at -but it wasn't textbook from what I've been reading -it was a good solid signal though. Great day today and I only dug two coins!!!!

No swamps around here in arizona-- just desert--all my old silver finds are dark like these--they are sun baked!! Tony.....

Congrats on the sweet old silver, Tony:thumbup:

I think you'll really grow to love the SE if you put some more time on it.

I'm glad my settings worked for you...and thanks for sharing.:beers:

Thanks Bryce-I really like all the reviews on coils and info you have put on here-I only covered a 20-25 ft square on this hunt and I know I was very lucky to find these 2-coins---the key to finding these was going really slow-- and checking out each signal---the half only gave a very short signal as I wiggled the coil ever so slightly back and forth. I'd detected this area before and i'm positive --- I ran the coil across this very spot several times!! I know I still have tons of practice to do--- to get better w/ this detector--- this hunt was a lucky one for sure!!! Thanks--Tony..

Wow what a nice score:thumbup: If those 2 coins could only talk:beers:
