Its not an old church, but I went around the playground some and the vollyball court.I found a few pennies and nickles, and some sword lookin thing.
I think it was a letter opener.First thing you know, this girl says "I lost that along time ago out there at the swings".I didnt argue,I just gave it to her.I thought about tellin her if she is just gonna thow in a drawer,I would to have it back.
Is that being an Indian Giver?
Also had fun digger some pulltabs.

When I get permission to hunt I always ask if they have lost anything they want me to look for. This way you'll keep away from the old "That's the ring I lost 5 years ago" syndrome. Once someone sees your loot it's all over. I put my trash in one pocket. Clad in another pocket. Then put my real loot (when I find some) in another pocket. You can always give up the trash and clad if you have to. If I'm being watched I use the slight of hand so it looks like I'm putting stuff in one pocket - the trash pocket. If I use a pouch only the trash and clad go into it. The loot goes in my pants pocket. Sometimes I don't use a pouch but I always wear carpenters pants. These have many and large pockets. So then I put my loot in my right pocket and clad and trash in my left pocket. I don't want to come off as being sneaky. But just found this works pretty good for me. Let's hear from some more hunters on this issue.

I never show anyone asking what I found, any potentially valuable pieces, I don't want to get socked on the head when I turn around. I usually show a couple of clads. However, if a person happened to approach me and ask about a specific piece of jewelry, and I had found it, I would return it. If the person said his grandfather lost a couple of standing liberty's in the same park 60 years ago, I would not give them back (ha ha).

Well,it's not like it was really worth any money, the handle brass and the blade was iron of some sort with a coating that had already flaked off and was pitted purty bad.
I'll have to remember, good stuff in one pocket, not so goo stuff in another.

You would wonder what a little girl was doing with a letter opener in a church yard? Lucky it wasn't a diamond ring but you did the right thing giving it back to her. Ron
