James in Alabama

Hi Folks!

Lawrence and I detected an area in Blount Springs, Alabama today. It was the same place I found an 1883 V nickel and three injuns a few years ago.

About 15 minutes into the hunt, I got a penny reading a few inches down.

Dug a nice 1899 injun! Here's Lawrence holding the coin.

HH everyone and thanks for looking...James

Great looking woods. I hunt a lot of woods in CT and have found a lot of goodies on the sides of the hills and on any terraced spots that may have been suitable for a camp or eating spot. With those wells there could mean some form of industry nearby and I 've found the old time workers inhabited some unlikley spots. Thanks James!

right next to a bricked structure and it looked like there may have been some form of activity like you said. I do know there was a factory somwhere in the area in the 1800's where they manufactured blue bottles that contained mineral water taken from a natural spring that bubbles out of the ground to this day. The old timers claim this water has magical healing powers and many of the local residents still drink it. The wells are obviously dried up, but the spring is still there. A friend of mine told me if you find one of these blue bottles intact, they are worth $200 or more.

with the leaves having turned red and gold and yellow!! The area has a sulphur spring and the water running beside our parking area is sulphur water...rotten egg smell was very strong in the area!!
Here are a few of the pics I took:

A shot of James detecting lower down the hill from me

The hill was very steep in places and it made it difficult to detect without going tumbling down the hill!!
I will add another post to display the rest of my pics...I haven't figured out how to do it on Photobucket even with the tutorials!!

Here is James checking a signal

An old rock wall in the woods. We are not sure if it was part of a house or not. There are 2 sets of stone steps going up to the top.

Another section of the rock wall.

James told me this area has been hammered and I believe him. However, he found his Injun in less than fifteen minutes of our hunt beginning! I gave me some high hopes for the day, but it did not turn out like I wanted it to go!! It was fun anyway!!
Thanks for looking!!
