Detech coils for equinox s

shiffty

New member
Hi all.just a quick question to ask any members of they know if detech are going to make any sef coils for the equinox...I have used the small 8x6 butter fly coil on my explorer with great success .b great if they would produce some for the equinox s?

I dont expect anyone for some time to produce a coil........ but i agree this has to be one of the most talked about machines in some time. There are going to be a lot sold....... if ML doesnt find it needs to do but 3 coils, hopefully they will make it cheap enough for an aftermarket company to do some. Its quite the competitor in each mode well deserving of mode specific coils........

If I were a betting man I would say we are at the mercy of Minelab for coils. By the time a third party gets involved we will be on to the next latest and greatest detector. Minelab does make great coils. The gripes are the slow trickle to dealers and many would love to see an 8 inch coil in the plans. That 15 inch has my eye for the beach.

An 8" coil would have been ideal, be what do we know we are just users.

I sincerely wish/hope they open the gate for after market coil makers (besides CoilTek) to make coils. The CTX was a neat machine but I preferred the eTrac to it simply due to the many coils available for it. An 8 or 9 inch round Equinox coil would be great for freshwater hunting. The 8 inch SunRay was one of my favorite coils for the eTrac as an all rounder. So I hope they have listened to customer complaints and 3rd party makers will be able to produce coils. Who knows though.

I would guess it will be a long wait before we see any 3rd party coils.
The Equinox coils have a proprietary circuit board in them.
Look at what is going on with the proprietary audio connector for waterproof headphones.
We'll just have to wait and see...Until then, I'm out detecting...with what I have - Standard coil
and home brewed waterproof headphone adapter for the Amphibians.

Don't hold your breath. Because of the patented circuitry in the coil, Minelab will be able to prevent others from making coils for the Nox--unless they are willing to pay exorbitant royalties. An easy way to boost profits from each sale of the Nox. Too bad, as the 6x8 SEF is certainly one of the reasons I like the Etrac.

Hows it worked out for the CTX? Every things over priced and we have one other company attempting to make water coils that frankly most of us dont care for. How many years has the CTX been out now...... good while. This IMO is a real opportunity for ML to design coils specifically for the various modes. There is obviously a place for say a 9" water coils, gold coils and even narrow field ones. Some of the biggest changes in what we were able to find came from headphones and coils...... now the machines caught up.
