Detech Chaser Finds:hot:

[size=large]I have been able to get the Detech Chaser out a couple of times. The coins and
jewelry came from the yard next door. I hunted it years ago and it has been a
rental house so much of what I found was relatively new. '32 wheatie, Gateway
Arch charm, anchor charm, buttons, clad. 2 targets were 8" deep and got them
with the 7" DD coil and audio was still good.
The other items came from a CW battlefield that has been hunted a lot. The
sabot looks like a 3" Hotchkiss with rifling and distress marks on it from the barrell
but the history of the battle only mentions cannister shot and Schenkl shells being shot.
The IH penny is 1864, merc is 37, and the eagle and anchor button is CW Marine
Corps. Can anyone help me with the marking on the watch back ? I never seen
one like that before.
The Chaser is extremely deep, locks hard on a good target and easily lets you know
when your target isn't good. Today, the person I was hunting with wanted me to
check some targets for him... he couldn't tell if they were good or bad. The Chaser
said iron each time, they were all iron.. A short learning curve but after that, WOW !!!'
Videos coming in the next week or so.

I've been looking at this detector too. Searches show 2 other Chasers besides the 14 kHz. A 4.8 kHz model and a 28 kHz model. The 14 kHz looks like it goes pretty deep but not sure the advantages when we a variety of detectors in that frequency already.

If the 4.8 is out I'd definitely consider it. Any news on it?

Nice stuff Richard! I have yet to take mine out, but hopefully this week. Gonna give it a whirl in a "hunted out" Civil War site. No EMI to worry about and the ground is pretty mild so I'll crank it up and see how it handles. What settings were you using? Robert

I have one. The 9" coil is killer for depth. I actually like it more than the larger coil. There is a little bit of a learning curve in distinguishing falsing off of deep iron nails and coins. Otherwise, it is a deep detector.

Put Gain on "High" and run sensitivity up as high as you can without it chattering.
I'd also hunt in Relic mode and minus key the disc down to zero. Once the machine is running all you have to do is hit the minus or plus key to set the disc.

I spoke with a place that sells the Detech and he told me he doesn't know if or when they will release the 4 kHz Chaser. I know I wanted the 4 but had to take the 14.

Thanks for the info. I hope they release the 4.8. Sounds like the Detech 14 kHz is deeper than other brands at that frequency. I know in my soil here in Northeast Ohio, the lower frequency the better.
FBS works very well too. The Detech has my interest as it appears to go deep like the FBS does and I may pick one up in the Spring. Maybe the 4.8 will be out by then.

That's what I have in mind...no EMI in the woods, so I'm cranking this baby up in disc zero mode to see how it does and make adjustments if it gets too cranky! BTW...what kinda depth have you been getting?
